It takes a village...a Weston Village!

November 28, 2021, marked the 33rd Annual Weston Community Food Drive for the Weston Emergency Support (WAES) by Weston Park Baptist Church (WPBC).  Last year, the Food Drive was postponed due to Covid and a GoFundMe campaign was implemented.  This year, the drive returned with the collection of an unprecedented total of 494 boxes of food.

Before COVID, WAES  had an average of 650 visits each month. In the past 9 months the number of visits has averaged 1,780.  Of those helped, 30% are children and youth, and 16% are seniors.

The efforts behind the food drive are profound, it's a huge endeavour and wouldn’t have been possible without the following mentions.

Special thanks to….

  • The 70+ volunteers who took time to help

  • The Weston Community who gave generously.

  • Community leaders, MPP Faisal Hassan, and Councillor Frances Nunziata of York South–Weston for attending, participating and sharing with their network the good efforts being made by the Weston Community.

  • Weston Park Baptist Church for its leadership in coordinating this event for the last 33 years.

  • Shawn Watts lead coordinator of the WPBC  Food Drive Committee, who is relentless in his efforts to beat the goals from the previous year.

  • Castlepoint Numa who covered  the food drive expenses and for their  generous monetary donation to WAES.

We couldn’t be more grateful. See you next year!

Thank You Everyone!
Another Food Drive Success...

From begining to end the community of Weston and our many volunteers made this year's food drive a  success once again.

The Weston and surrounding communities were so generous. An abundance of food was collected to help stock WAES' shelves and supplement their Christmas hampers. Yesterday the last of the food was sorted and packed away in boxes ready for WAES.

We are so thankful to all who have helped at each stage of the Drive this year.
