The church in Philippi faced many challenges including disunity, fault finding, and dysfunctional relationships. Nevertheless, the church possessed a heart for outreach and a deep commitment to the Apostle Paul and his worldwide mission. Paul encouraged the church to develop a baseline—a true constant—of love for God and for one another to overcome the challenges it faced. We also need to nurture a deep dedication to Jesus that surmounts the dangerous times that we live in.
