The writer of Proverbs presents the picture of ‘Wisdom’ throwing a great banquet and inviting everyone to attend. For various reasons some (the scoffers) refuse the invitation while others (the wise) say ‘yes’. The point of the story is to choose ‘wisdom’ over all other options. Nothing is more important than choosing ‘wisdom’. ‘Wisdom’ is vital because it speaks to the heart’s intention of seeking God above all else. When we seek God first we live wisely.
