The psalmist invites us with a 3-fold command to 'sing unto the Lord a new song'. He then echoes his imperative with a 3-fold exhortation to 'ascribe or give' glory to God for his creative and salvific powers. What is of note here is that the psalmist's encouragement to praise God is not limited to Israel but includes all peoples and all the earth - every human family and every creature on God's good earth is invited to join in the great choir of praise. May we say our "yes" and add our voices to this mighty river of adulation to our glorious Lord.
