WHAT IS MEMBERSHIP?

You can think of membership as a covenant between Weston Park Baptist Church (WPBC) and you. It’s a formal step that solidifies your commitment to the church and its growth. Likewise, the church has a commitment to looking out for your well being and spiritual journey.

WHY IS MEMBERSHIP IMPORTANT?

The church is a community of believers in Christ. Without the community the church would not exist. Becoming a member announces your commitment to the church and helps to ensure a growing community and the healthy future of its existence. More tangibly, members are permitted and trusted to vote on decisions that affect WPBC.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS OF MEMBERSHIP?

  • Be aligned with Weston Park Baptist Church’s Statement of Faith

  • Be baptized or have previously been baptized. At Weston Park Baptist Church, we practice Believer's Baptism, defined as professing your faith in our triune God publicly (signified by immersion in water)*.

  • Share a testimony that exemplifies your faith in Jesus

WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR BECOMING A MEMBER?

  1. Meet with a Deacon or Pastoral team member to connect and talk about your personal testimony. Together you will fill out a Memership Request form (available here).  It is a simple form that addresses your faith journey and why you would like to become a member at Weston Park Baptist Church.

  2. Membership will be announced and passed by vote at an upcoming general meeting.

WHAT ARE THE POSITIONS IN THE CHURCH THAT CAN BE HELD BY MEMBERS?

  • Pastoral Team
  • Deacons Team (Church Leadership)
  • Ministry Leadership (such as Youth Director, Bible School Coordinator)

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF CHURCH MEETINGS?

All are invited to participate in church business meetings. Church meetings are the place to ask questions, to participate in discussions and to voice ideas and concerns.  (Only members can vote).

WHO DO I REACH OUT TO IF I AM INTERESTED IN BECOMING A MEMBER OR HAVE ANY MORE QUESTIONS?

Anyone on the Pastoral or Deacon’s team.

* Exceptions to the rule of baptism by immersion may be made for new members at the recommendation of the Pastor and with a majority vote by the Deacons.
