Check out...

this excellant opportunity that our Wave youth, Sidney and Isaac Crawford, have to support West Park Heath Care Centre through their basketball skill.

Dear church family,

My brother, Isaac, and I have been given an extraordinary opportunity to participate in a fundraiser for West Park Healthcare Centre and we were hoping to get your support!

For the first time, West Park is running a basketball tournament known as the tournament of stars. It is a fantastic event where eager fundraisers and celebrities will come together for a day of basketball and celebrating West Park. The event is taking place from March 31-April 1.

This year the OBA (Ontario Basketball Association) gave a donation to West Park to fund one youth team who would be able to enter the tournament. The OBA then ran a contest for youth from ages 16-19, in which they had to write a letter, in 100 words or less, on why they should be the youth team that gets to play in the tournament.

Isaac and I, along with our two friends and high school basketball coach, decided we would make a team and go for it (I have included our letter below). The way it has worked out, we won the contest and now are not only getting to participate in the tournament and support West Park, but represent Ontario Basketball while we're at it!

We appreciate your prayers and if you are curious about the event or interested in donating you can visit the tournament website at:
https://wphcf.akaraisin.com/Common/Event/Home.aspx?seid=12818&mid=8
To donate, follow the link and click on the green donate button in the top right hand corner. We would then appreciate having the donations given to the team as a whole, our team name is "OBA Shooting Stars," and the captain's name is Jason Jansson.

Thank you so much for all your support!

Sincerely,
Sidney Crawford

Here is the letter we submitted to the contest:
Richard... the loyal guard, loudest fan and basketball devotee from the time he was born. Teija... the purest lover of basketball, talented and a joy to play with.  Mr. Tone... the coach who creates limits you never dreamed of reaching. Isaac... our strong leader, my brother, with the ability to carry a team on his shoulders even if one is partially dislocated.  And me, Sidney... defense with a smile. Our mom was a patient at West Park and I have volunteered there since I was six years old. We're not just a basketball team, we are a West Park team.
